Joaquín Grilo’s feet are a fully-fledged percussion instrument. This dancer from Jerez de la Frontera made a huge impression in Miguel Poveda’s Sin Frontera on the final night of the 2nd Flamenco Biennial in 2008. Grilo combines a spectacular intensity with flair and wit. He takes great pleasure in sending up flamenco tradition and turning it inside out. He is accompanied by singer Jesús Méndez, a scion of the famous gypsy clan of the legendary La Paquera de Jerez. Rising star Méndez was cast by Carlos Saura in his latest film, Flamenco Flamenco (2010). The guitar is in the capable hands of Diego del Morao, who will replace his father Moraíto Chico. It promises to be a mouth-watering musical summit of the Jerez school of flamenco.
